Mental Health Counseling Services

Aegis Medical offers online, OHIP-covered mental health and counseling treatment.

Ontario residents struggle to receive the critical mental health care they need due to cost, the lack of a nearby provider, transportation, family & work conflicts. So we took board certification and 15 years of mental health treatment experience to create a powerful and unique telemedicine solution that is available & affordable to all Ontario residents.

Therapy can help improve symptoms of many mental health conditions. In therapy, people can learn to cope with symptoms that may not respond to treatment right away. Research shows the benefits of therapy last longer than medication alone. Medication can reduce some symptoms of mental health conditions, but therapy teaches people skills to address many symptoms on their own. These skills last after therapy ends, and symptoms may continue to improve with therapist touch bases.

It is important to remember that if you or a loved one are contemplating suicide, we advise that you get immediate help by calling 911 or visiting the nearest emergency room. A therapist can help support you going forward, once you are no longer in crisis.

Individual Counseling

Individual counseling is a one-on-one discussion between the counselor and the client, who is the person seeking treatment. The two form an alliance, relationship or bond that enables trust, healing and personal growth.

Group Counseling

Group counseling is a form of psychotherapy that usually involves three to ten participants and one or two group therapists. Most groups meet regularly at the same time for one to two hours. During that time, the members of the group discuss the issues that are concerning them and offer each other support and feedback.

Caduceus Groups

A caduceus group acts as a support network for all medical professionals that have the desire to recover. In these groups, impaired health professionals can feel confident in sharing their stories with peers who can relate to their experiences. Hundreds of medical professionals throughout Ontario rely on these groups for the peer-to-peer support and the guidance that they provide.

Mental Health

Counseling Strategy

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)

is an evidence-based therapy that helps people recognize destructive thinking patterns, understand how that influences their behavior, and how to adopt healthier behaviors.

Psychodynamic Therapy

focuses on emotion and interpersonal relationships. With a professional’s guidance, clients use self-reflection and self-examination to uncover and work through problematic patterns.

Interpersonal therapy

focuses on the relationship between our personal interactions and psychological symptoms.

Counselors often specialize in certain areas. In general, they’re trained to help people with:
